Angela Tong is a yoga teacher, acupuncturist and the co-founder of the Teton Yoga Shala in Jackson Hole, Wyo.
She has been a student of yoga for 22 years now and an acupuncturist for 11 years. Her first yoga teacher Diane Wilson in Portland, Ore. encouraged her to teach as a way to progress as a student and to find the voice of wisdom that resides within.
The yoga path is a daily and never ending journey of self discovery and Angela is still on it. There is not a day that goes by that she doesn’t say, “Thank God for Yoga!”
Her yoga classes reflect influences from her love of mother nature and outside activities, her training in martial arts and Chinese medicine, and of course yoga and Vispassana meditation.
Her desire as a teacher is to help yoga become a tool for connection, healing, rejuvenation and inspiration and for yoga to be the link that helps all other aspects of life to flourish.
She gives thanks to her yoga teachers Patthabi Jois, Tim Miller, Richard Freeman, Diane Wilson, Eddie Modestini, Nicki Doane, Bhavani Maki and Goenkaji. However, her most influential yoga teachers these days are her partner John and daughter Jasmine.
Angela Tong is also a Doctor of Chinese Medicine and practices acupuncture in between yoga classes in the same building as as the Teton Yoga Shala. Ask her about acupuncture and schedule an appointment as a complementary therapy to your yoga practice.
