OWNER, PERSONAL TRAINER, NUTRITIONAL CONSULTANT
Tim Bruffy, owner of Atlas Fitness, has more than ten years experience in the physical fitness industry and is one of the most sought after trainers in the area. Tim earned his degree in Education and Sports Medicine from the University of Virginia where he worked intimately with the schools strength and conditioning department. In addition, he is certified in Nike SPARQ (Speed, Power, Agility, Reaction, Quickness) athletic performance training and serves as a guest instructor for the National Personal Training Institute (NPTI). As one of about 750 Nike-certified trainers worldwide, Tim knows how to motivate athletes and aspiring athletes to peak performance—for sport and for life. Tim is also a NPTI Certified Master Personal Trainer and Nutritional Consultant.
Tim has excelled in sports from an early age to include wrestling, football, basketball, baseball and dance. From 2002-2006 he was a member of the Golden Gloves DC amateur boxing circuit. In 2006 he competed in the Ultimate Fitness Events Strength and Obstacle Challenge, placing 1st and setting course obstacle records. In 2008 he placed 1st in the National Physique Committee’s (NPCs) Bodybuilding Middleweight Division and 3rd place overall. These days, in his free time, he is an avid cycler and enjoys recreational squash and rugby.
LEAD TRAINER
Garrett has a B.S. in Exercise Science and a minor in Coaching Education from James Madison University (JMU) where he graduated cum laude. At JMU, he worked with several Division 1 athletes, from various sports including: cheerleading, softball, baseball, track and field, and soccer. He specializes in sports performance but his training style consists of many different disciplines and approaches. He utilizes periodization and methodically designs programs to progress his clients appropriately for optimal performance. Garrett believes that maintaining a positive attitude, setting goals, and working hard are the keys to success for sustaining a healthy lifestyle.
GYM MANAGER, ATLAS PUNCH INSTRUCTOR
Kyle started working for Atlas Fitness in December of 2015. After his enlistment in the United States Air Force, Kyle started going to school and obtained his Bachelor’s of Science in Business Management from the University of Phoenix. Kyle has an extensive list of martial arts training including Muay Thai Kickboxing, Kali (Filipino stick fighting), the Jeet Kune Do principles, hand trapping techniques and Brazilian Jui-Jitsu. In addition to that, Kyle also has had security forces training and numerous self-defense courses from his time in the military.
PERSONAL TRAINER, YOUTH OUTREACH PROGRAM MANAGER
Salina was a competitive gymnast for over eight years, and quickly realized that gymnastics was what gave her a strong foundation in which to succeed and stay disciplined. This fueled her passion for health and fitness, and she began helping others to establish their own healthy foundations. Salina holds a MS with a specialization in health promotion management. She is a certified personal trainer (ISSA), group fitness instructor (ACE), certified health education specialist (CHES), and certified pre/post natal fitness specialist (Healthy Moms). Salina is also a fitness coach for the youth outreach fitness program at Atlas. Her experience and passion for working with diverse populations is deeply rooted in her philosophy that health and fitness can be integrated into anyone’s life regardless of age or ability level.
PERSONAL TRAINER
Stuart Shaw holds a degree in Exercise Science from Columbus State University along with an Associates of Science. He is a certified personal trainer by NCCPT and is currently enrolled in Nova Southeastern University’s Physical Therapy Program. Stuart was a collegiate baseball pitcher and specializes in post-rehabilitation training. He has worked with a wide array of clients from Olympic athletes, NFL combine prep, high school athletes, to Post-Rehabilitation clients..
Dr. Marc Luko is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, as well as a Doctor of Physical Therapy, which he received from Boston University. He combines his knowledge of rehabilitation and performance to provide thorough assessments and comprehensive programs to meet the needs of each client. He has rehabilitated and trained those with varying goals, including: Division 1 athletes, a top 5 finisher in the Miss Massachusetts Pageant, and many others. As a former competitive runner, he also has a unique understanding of injury prevention and strength training for runners. Marc’s goal is to provide his clients with the tools to move better, get stronger and achieve their athletic and fitness goals. In his spare time, he likes to watch and play sports, read and cook.
Trevor graduated from Towson University with a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology. He has specialized experience with improving speed, agility, and power with Loyola University Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse D-1 program. Trevor also has years of experience as a Physical Therapy Tech through Inova Physical Therapy Clinic where he assisted therapists with rehab techniques for the elderly and athletic alike. His training style consists of many different disciplines and approaches.
